Bangladesh

Kanpur: The Indian team brought Bangladesh to its knees in Kanpur. Captain Nazmul Hussain Shanto’s team, who came with the dream of defeating the Indian team in India, collapsed badly. More than two and a half days of play were wasted due to rain, but Rohit Sharma’s aggressive strategy made the test as exciting as T20. When the Indian team bundled out Bangladesh for 146 runs in the second innings, it got a target of 95 runs, which it achieved easily by losing 3 wickets. Yashasvi Jaiswal played an innings of 51 runs for him, while Virat Kohli scored an unbeaten 29 runs and Pant returned unbeaten after scoring 4 runs.

India on top of ICC World Championship points table

With this win, the Indian team has come closer to qualifying for the title match of the ICC World Test Championship. This is its 8th win in 11 matches, while it is on top of the points table. After this, India has to play a 3-match home series against New Zealand and a 5-match away series against Australia. It is believed that it will easily win against New Zealand.

Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill got out cheaply

Talking about the match, the Indian team chasing the target got initial setbacks. Captain Rohit Sharma wanted to take an aggressive stance, but was out after scoring just 2 runs. After this, Shubman Gill got out on 6 runs. Both these wickets went to Mehdi Hasan Miraz’s account. When India was 3 runs away from victory, Yashasvi Jaiswal played the ball in the air and was out after scoring 51 runs in 45 balls with the help of 8 fours and a six. Virat remained unbeaten on 29 and Pant remained unbeaten on 4 runs.

A total of 173.2 overs will be played in the match, whereas there are 90 overs in a day

  • India 1st innings: 285-9 d (34.4 overs)

India turned the tables in just a few overs

Earlier, India bundled out the visiting team for 146 runs in the second innings by lunch on the fifth and final day of the second and final cricket test. India, who had gained a lead of 52 runs in the first innings, now needed 95 runs in the remaining two sessions to register a win over Bangladesh. For India, Jadeja (three wickets for 34 runs), Jasprit Bumrah (three wickets for 17 runs) and Ravichandran Ashwin (three wickets for 50 runs) took three wickets each while Akash Deep (one wicket for 20 runs) took one wicket.

This is how Bangladesh’s condition worsened

Bangladesh started the day at 26 runs for two wickets. Mominul Haque (2), who had scored a century in the first innings, was caught by Lokesh Rahul at leg slip off Ashwin to give India the first success of the day. Opener Shadman Islam (50 runs in 101 balls, 10 fours) along with captain Nazmul Hussain Shanto (19) took charge of the innings by making a partnership of 55 runs for the fourth wicket.

This partnership was broken due to Shanto’s poor shot selection, after which India took wickets at regular intervals. Shanto completely missed the ball of Jadeja while trying to reverse sweep it and was bowled. Fast bowler Akash gave a big blow to Bangladesh by getting Shadman caught by Yashasvi Jaiswal in the slip.

Ravindra Jadeja did wonders

Left arm spinner Jadeja then got Liton Das (1) caught by wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant and then broke the back of Bangladesh’s middle order by catching Shakib Al Hasan on his own ball. Shakib could not even open his account in what was probably the last innings of his test career. Bumrah then increased Bangladesh’s problems further by dismissing Mehdi Hasan Miraz (9) and Taijul Islam (0). He ended Bangladesh’s innings by bowling out Mushfiqur Rahim (37).

Bangladesh’s first innings: 233 runs in 74.2 overs

The Indian team won the toss and decided to bowl first. There was overcast condition so there was no reason to doubt captain Rohit’s decision. Except for Mominul Haque’s unbeaten 107 runs, no batsman could face the Indian bowlers properly. Jasprit Bumrah took 3 wickets while Mohammad Siraj, Ravichandran Ashwin and Akash Deep took 2-2 wickets each.
