New Delhi: A woman was arrested along with her fiancé and a friend for allegedly killing her mother in southwest Delhi’s Najafgarh area, police said on Saturday. The accused have been identified as Monika, her fiancé Naveen Kumar and their friend Yogesh alias Yogi. Naveen is from Narela while Yogi is from Sonipat in Haryana, police said.
Woman called police and asked to investigate
Police said that on Friday a woman called them and said that her mother is inside the house, but she is not responding, so she wants the police to go there and investigate. The woman who called told her name as Monika Solanki and said that her 58-year-old mother lives alone on the fourth floor of a residential building in Najafgarh Main Market. The woman who called told the police that she had met her mother a day before and she was absolutely fine. On this, a police team reached there and broke the door and went inside. Inside they found the woman (Sumitra) lying on the floor of the bedroom and there were injury marks on her forehead, one eye and wrists of both hands.
2 men and a woman were seen entering the flat
An officer said that the woman had died. An officer said that during the investigation, the police scanned the footage of the CCTV cameras of the building in which they saw two men and a woman entering the flat at 2.18 am late night. He said investigation revealed that the woman was Monika, later the two men were identified as Naveen and Yogesh. Police arrested the three and registered a case against them under Section 103 (1) of the Indian Penal Code. Prima facie, it appears the murder was due to property, the official said.
