Mamata Banerjee, angry with the delay in talks with the protesting doctors, said to the doctors standing outside her house in the rain, “Today you said that you want to meet me. I agreed and I am waiting. Please do not insult me like this. Earlier I waited for you for two hours, but you did not come. The Chief Minister told the doctors that if they are not ready to meet, then at least come inside the house and have tea.
The West Bengal Chief Minister said, “All of us – the Chief Secretary, the Director General of Police (DGP) and the Home Secretary, are waiting for you all. We have given you umbrellas so that you don’t get drenched in the rain. We have also made arrangements for you to sit. Please come inside and at least have tea if you don’t want to talk to me.” When the doctors insisted on recording their meeting, the Chief Minister said that there was no such mention in the letter sent today and said that the matter is in court.
She said, “It was not written in any letter that you wanted the meeting to be broadcast live. But I assure you that I will get everything recorded and give you a copy of it. I will ensure that the video is not released until the Supreme Court gives permission. Citing security and lack of space in his house, the Chief Minister said that recording and calling more doctors inside is not possible. Fifteen people were supposed to come here but 40 people have come. Can 40 people be accommodated in someone’s house?
Didi had offered to resign
Let us tell you that on 13 September 2024, Mamata Banerjee kept waiting for the doctors for two hours for a meeting with the junior doctors sitting on strike in the conference hall of Nabanna, but the doctors remained adamant about live streaming of the talks and refused to go to the conference hall. After this, the meeting was cancelled late in the evening. After this, ‘Didi’, who did not bow down for a month, surprised everyone by suddenly offering her resignation late on Thursday evening.
Mamata Banerjee had apologized to the people with folded hands
After the talks failed, Mamata Banerjee held a press conference. Mamata said that today I waited for two hours for the protesting doctors, but they did not agree to talk. I want to apologize to those who thought that today there would be a meeting between the doctors and the government and a solution to this movement would be found. I am ready to resign for the happiness of the people. She further said that I also want justice in the rape-murder case of the medical college by doing an RG. Due to the strike by junior doctors, 27 people have lost their lives, the condition of 7 lakh patients is bad. Despite this, I will not take any action against the doctors, being elder, I forgave them.
