American short seller firm Hindenburg has once again released a report. In the new report released on Saturday, many serious allegations have been made against market regulator SEBI’s chairperson Madhabi Puri Buch. Now the first reaction of the SEBI chairperson has come to light on those allegations. She completely rejected the allegations made by Hindenburg Research and called it an attempt to defame her character.
There is no truth in the allegations
SEBI Chairperson Madhabi Puri Buch and her husband Dhawal Buch said in a joint statement issued on Sunday morning- In reference to the allegations leveled against us in the Hindenburg report of August 10, we want to state that we completely reject the baseless allegations made in the report. There is no truth in it. Our life and finances are like an open book. Whatever disclosures we needed to make, all that information has been given to SEBI in the past years.
All financial documents can be issued
SEBI chairperson and her husband further said- We have no objection to making any of our financial documents public. We can even release the financial documents of the time when we were living a private life. We can make all the documents available to any authority.
Will issue a detailed statement later
She called Hindenburg’s allegations unfortunate and said that this is an attempt to defame her in response to the show cause notice sent by SEBI. SEBI Chairperson said that keeping in mind complete transparency, she will soon issue a detailed statement in this matter.
These allegations in the Hindenburg report
Let us tell you that Hindenburg Research made headlines for the first time about one and a half years ago when it released a report making allegations against the Adani Group. Before releasing the report this time, Hindenburg Research had said in an update on the social media platform X on Saturday morning that something big is going to happen soon. After that, its report came out late Saturday evening, which said that SEBI’s investigation against the Adani Group is not able to proceed because the SEBI chairperson and her husband have alleged connections with the group.
