Sultanpur: Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi will appear in Sultanpur’s MP/MLA court on Friday in a defamation case. Congress district unit president Abhishek Singh Rana said on Thursday that Rahul will land at Lucknow’s Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport at 9 am on Friday, from where he will leave for Sultanpur by car and appear in the MP-MLA court. Local Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Vijay Mishra had filed a defamation case on August 4, 2018, accusing Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of making objectionable remarks against the then BJP president and current Home Minister Amit Shah in Bengaluru in 2018. The court had granted bail to Rahul in this case on February 20.

Special Magistrate Shubham Verma has directed Rahul to appear in the court on July 26 to record his statement in the case.
