Race 4: The buzz around the fourth installment of the Race franchise has fans eagerly awaiting its release, especially with the exciting news that Saif Ali Khan will return to the series. Khan, who led the first two films, was replaced by Salman Khan in Race 3, but his return is a significant development for longtime followers of the franchise.
Shiraz Ahmed, the writer behind all three previous Race films, offered some insights into Race 4 during a conversation with Bollywood Hungama. “Race 4 will go on floors in January (2025),” Ahmed revealed. “The script is almost completed and so is the casting. Saif Ali Khan and Sidharth Malhotra’s casting is already out in the media. The rest of the cast will be revealed by the producers Tips Films at the right time in a proper announcement.”
Providing more context about the storyline, Ahmed shared, “For Race 4, we have continued the story and characters from Race 1 and 2. We have gone back to the same world of the first two films.”
While Race 3 performed well at the box office, it faced its fair share of criticism. Ahmed reflected on the changes in the third film: “In Race 3, we shifted a bit from the Race franchise in terms of characters. If you remove the title ‘Race’ from the film, you will enjoy it. People went to see Race, but they got to see something else. We had Salman Khan in the film. So, you need to keep certain things in mind. He doesn’t play negative roles. Mainly, his fans would never like to see him in a negative role. So certain boundaries came about. Still, we tried to do whatever we could.”
The first two films were directed by the renowned duo Abbas-Mustan, while Remo D’Souza took the helm for Race 3. As of now, the director for Race 4 has yet to be finalized, but the excitement around the film continues to grow as the production moves forward under Tips Films.
