Parkash Singh Badal took oath as Chief Minister for the fifth time in the year 2012 at the age of 84. He took this oath at the ground near Fateh Minar in Chapparchidi, Mohali. At that time there was an alliance of BJP and Shiromani Akali Dal.
Leaders of SAD, BJP and their allies had reached this grand ceremony. Chappadchidi was decked up like a bride. During this, Parkash Singh Badal became the Chief Minister for the second consecutive time. He took oath along with 18 MLAs. The current Prime Minister of the country, Narendra Modi, who was the Chief Minister of Gujarat at that time, also attended the ceremony, while Navjot Singh Sidhu was in the BJP and attended the event.

- 1970 – At the age of 43, he was elected the youngest Chief Minister of Punjab.
- 1977 – He was jailed during Emergency. After the Emergency, he became the Union Minister for Agriculture and Irrigation. Later he was elected Chief Minister for the second time.
- 1997 – He was elected Chief Minister for the third time. He formed the government with the support of the BJP.
- 2007 – He led the SAD-BJP government and became the chief minister for the fourth time.
- 2012 – Became the oldest Chief Minister at the age of 84. Became the Chief Minister for the fifth time leading the SAD-BJP government.
Last Election of his Life
In the 2022 Punjab assembly elections, Parkash Singh Badal contested from the Lambi assembly seat. But Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate Gurmeet Singh Khudian defeated him by 11,396 votes. While in 2017 assembly elections, Parkash Singh Badal defeated his rival Captain Amarinder Singh by 22,770 votes.
From this seat, he had won the assembly elections five times in a row since 1997. But he had to face defeat in the last election of his life. Please tell that the oldest candidate who contested the election has also been Prakash Singh Badal. He contested his last election at the age of 94.
