Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann did not get the permission of the central government to go to Paris, where the Maha Kumbh Olympics is being organized. According to media reports, CM Bhagwant Mann wanted to go to Paris to support the Indian hockey team in the Olympics. The Indian hockey team has to play its quarter-final match on August 4 and Punjab Chief Minister Mann wanted to go to Paris to watch this match.

Permission not given due to security reasons

Actually, most of the players in the Indian hockey team that went to play in the Paris Olympics are from Punjab. CM Bhagwant Mann wanted to go to Paris to encourage the Indian team. According to sources, the Home Ministry did not give him permission to go to Paris citing security reasons.

After not getting permission to go to Paris, CM Bhagwant Mann spoke to Indian hockey team captain Harmanpreet Singh over the phone. In the conversation, CM Mann said, ‘I wanted to come (to Paris) to encourage you but I did not get political approval. I was planning to go to watch the quarter-final match but the central government said that I cannot go. I will not be able to come there (to Paris) but I am with you.’

Speaker Sandhawa also did not get permission to go to America…

It is also being said that apart from CM Bhagwant Mann, Punjab Assembly Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhawa has also not got permission to go to America. Actually Kultar Singh Sandhawa wants to participate in the conference of MLAs to be held in America from August 4 to August 7, but the central government did not allow him to go abroad.
