Politics heats up again after another criminal was killed in a police encounter

Posted on September 24, 2024 By NewsTodayLive Team

Lucknow. The political temperature has risen again due to the encounter between the police and the criminals. Two criminals involved in the robbery incident at Bharat Jewelers shop in Sultanpur on August 28 have been killed in a police encounter in a gap of 18 days.

On September 5, the first accused, Mangesh Yadav, was killed in an encounter, after which on Monday morning, another accused, Anuj Pratap Singh, a resident of Amethi and involved in the robbery, met the same fate.

Anuj’s father gave a statement

Anuj’s father Dharamraj Singh has blamed SP national president Akhilesh Yadav for his son’s death. He told the media that ‘At least Akhilesh Yadav’s wish has been fulfilled. At least his wish of encountering Thakurs has been fulfilled. Thakur has also been encountered’.

The opposition has again raised questions about encounters. If we look at the statistics of encounters between the police and criminals in the last seven years, a total of 208 criminals have been killed so far and 17 policemen have sacrificed their lives in the encounter. From March 22, 2017 till now, 27,297 criminals have been caught in 13,059 police encounters, while 7,282 have been injured by police bullets.

Anuj Singh, the accused in the Sultanpur robbery case, had a robbery case registered against him in Surat (Gujarat) last year. He was released on bail in this case. After the death of accused Mangesh Yadav, the SP chief had attacked the state government and the police.

It was written on the x account that ‘It seems that the ruling party had deep connections with the people involved in the Sultanpur robbery, that is why before the fake encounter, the main accused was contacted and made to surrender and other party members were shot only on their feet and killed on the basis of caste.

When the issue of encounters based on caste arose, Congress also tried to corner BJP by making serious allegations against the police. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also retaliated. He said, ‘Why does SP feel bad when a dacoit is killed in a police encounter? During SP rule, a parallel government of goons and mafia used to run. The difference is that earlier the police used to run away, now the criminals run away’.

BSP supremo Mayawati had advised both BJP and SP regarding law and order. On the serious allegations against the police, DGP Prashant Kumar had said that the police does not do this. The police takes action with complete impartiality.
