PM Modi in Kargil: Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Drass in the Union Territory of Ladakh on Friday (26 July). Here, on the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas, he visited the War Memorial and paid tribute to the soldiers who were martyred in the war against Pakistan. PM Modi warned Pakistan from Kargil and said that its nefarious intentions will never succeed. Kargil Vijay Diwas is being celebrated across the country today in memory of India’s victory over Pakistan in the 1999 war.
PM Modi also inaugurated the Shinkun La tunnel project in Ladakh with the first blast. According to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), the project will provide all-weather connectivity to Leh and will be the world’s highest tunnel when completed. In the last few years, the government has been focusing a lot on Ladakh. Many major roads have been repaired here and new roads and bridges have been built.
The names of those who put their lives at stake to protect the country remain immortal: PM Modi
Addressing the people after paying tribute to the martyrs in Kargil, PM Modi said, “Kargil Vijay Diwas tells us that the sacrifices made for the nation are immortal. Days, months, years, decades and even centuries pass by. But the names of the people who put their lives at stake to protect the nation remain indelible. In Kargil, we did not just win the war, we gave a wonderful demonstration of ‘truth, restraint and strength’.”
‘I salute the martyrs who sacrificed their lives to protect the motherland’
PM Modi said, “I am fortunate that during the Kargil war, I was among our soldiers as a common citizen. Today, when I am again on the soil of Kargil, naturally those memories have become fresh in my mind. I remember how our forces carried out such a difficult war operation at such a height. I salute those martyrs who made the supreme sacrifice to protect the motherland in Kargil.”
Pakistan had shown its untrustworthy face: PM Modi
Lashing out at Pakistan, PM Modi said, “In Kargil, we did not just win the war, we gave a wonderful demonstration of ‘truth, restraint and strength’. You know, India was striving for peace at that time. In return, Pakistan once again showed its untrustworthy face, but falsehood and terror were defeated in front of truth.”
The nefarious designs of those who sponsor terrorism will not succeed: PM Modi
Highlighting the terrorist activities of the neighbouring country, PM Modi said, “Pakistan has faced failure in all its evil attempts in the past, but Pakistan has not learnt anything from its history. It is trying to keep itself relevant with the help of terrorism and proxy war.”
He said, “But today I am speaking from a place where the masters of terror can hear me directly. I want to tell these patrons of terrorism that their evil intentions will never succeed.”
We will crush terrorism with full force: PM Modi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi talked about adopting a zero tolerance policy against terrorism. He said that our brave soldiers will crush terrorism with full force. The enemy will be given a befitting reply. Be it Ladakh or Jammu and Kashmir, India will defeat every challenge coming in the way of development.
There was mention of the development of Kashmir and Ladakh
PM Modi said that in a few days, on 5 August, it will be 5 years since the abolition of Article 370. Today, Jammu and Kashmir is talking about a new future, it is talking about big dreams. Jammu and Kashmir is being recognized for holding important meetings of global summits like G-20. Along with infrastructure development, tourism sector is also growing in Jammu and Kashmir.
Regarding the development of Ladakh, PM Modi said that today a new wave of development has emerged in Ladakh. The construction work of Shinkun La tunnel has started today. Through this, Ladakh will remain connected to the country throughout the year, in every season. This tunnel will open a new path of new possibilities for the development and better future of Ladakh.
