In view of the increasing cases of rape in the year 2020, a new law was introduced in Pakistan . Under this law, provision was made to punish the rapists by castrating them . Yes , according to this law , if a person is found guilty in a rape case, he is castrated . This work is done through chemical castration . This law is called Anti Rape Ordinance 2020. This law was approved by Imran Khan ‘s cabinet .
Revealing the identity of the victims is also a crime
Revealing the identity of rape victims in Pakistan also comes under the category of crime . Which is considered a punishable offense . Under the law, if any kind of negligence is shown in the investigation in such cases in Pakistan, then there is a provision of fine and imprisonment up to three years on the investigating police and government officials . Apart from this, if any officer gives false information, then there is a provision of punishment for him as well .
Every day 12 rape cases are reported in Pakistan
According to a survey report released in 2022 , one rape occurs every 2 hours in Pakistan . Based on the data collected from the Home Department of Punjab and the Ministry of Human Rights, the Investigation Unit of Pakistani channel Sama TV conducted a survey , which revealed that rape cases are increasing in Pakistan and the conviction rate has been very low .
According to this survey , 21,900 women were reported raped in Pakistan from 2017 to 2021. This means that 12 women are being raped every day or one woman every two hours across the country . However , it was also told in this report that these figures are very low because most of the cases are not registered due to fear of social stigma .
