The Supreme Court’s decision has come in the NEET UG-2024 paper leak case, which is a relief for about 24 lakh students. The court has said that the NEET-UG exam will not be cancelled. The court has said that there is not enough evidence of irregularities. In this case, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta presented arguments on behalf of the Center and NTA. Let us know the main points of the court.

  1. The CJI said, the court has independently examined the data placed on record by the NTA. At the present stage, there is a lack of evidence or material on record to conclude that the result of the examination has been vitiated or there has been a systemic violation of the sanctity of the examination.
  2. The Supreme Court said that NTA will have to declare the complete result of NEET exam again.
  3. There will be no re-examination for NEET-UG 2024 but 13 lakh students will face reshuffle in rankings, says Supreme Court. IIT-D has given one of the two options approved by NTA for the atomic theory question.
  4. While hearing the matter, the CJI said, would it be appropriate to say that some material related to the paper leak has gone out of Hazaribagh and Patna? Assuming this, should we cancel the exam today?
  5. The court said, if we order a re-examination, then the students should know that they will have to start preparing. If we do not do so, then they have the right to know this too. We cannot keep the students hanging.
  6. CJI DY Chandrachud said during the hearing, the committee constituted under the chairmanship of the director of IIT Delhi has submitted its report. In this, the answer to the controversial question is ‘D’.
