Monkeypox cases

New Delhi. Monkeypox cases in India. The second case of monkeypox has been reported in the country. A person who returned to Kerala from Dubai has been found infected. The 38-year-old man is undergoing treatment in Malappuram district. The health department said that monkeypox infection has been confirmed in the man.

Earlier, on September 9, the first monkeypox patient was confirmed in the country. The Union Health Ministry had said that a person who returned from abroad was kept in isolation on suspicion of monkeypox on September 8.

All states should remain alert: Center

The Union Health Ministry has issued an advisory to the states to curb the monkeypox cases. The central government has said that the states should take health action to prevent monkeypox cases. At the same time, all states should review the preparations of their health facilities.

 

Let us tell you that the World Health Organization declared monkeypox a global public health emergency on August 14. This is the second time in two years that WHO has declared a health emergency regarding monkeypox. The first case of Covid-19 in the country was also reported in Kerala.

The first cases of Covid-19 in India were reported in three cities of Kerala on 30 January 2020. Three medical students had returned from Wuhan, China. Please note that the viruses of monkeypox and corona are different. Its symptoms are also different.

Difference between Covid-19 and Mpox?

  •  Coronavirus is caused by SARS-COV-2. On the other hand, the monkeypox virus is an orthopox virus of the Poxviridae family. The symptoms of coronavirus can be more severe than those of monkeypox. On the other hand, coronavirus is more contagious.
  • The corona virus attacks the lungs. On the other hand, monkeypox causes rashes on the body.
  • Symptoms can appear within 14 days after being infected with corona. On the other hand, symptoms appear within 21 days after being infected with monkeypox.
  • A person infected with corona can recover in 4 to 5 days. On the other hand, if a person is infected with monkeypox, it can take 2 to 4 weeks to recover.

Symptoms of Monkeypox

  • Fever
  • Formation of lumps in the body
  • Headache, muscle pain, fatigue
  • chills and sweating
  • sore throat and cough
  • Skin rash, blisters, itching, skin lesions

How dangerous is monkeypox?

Monkeypox is definitely a painful disease, but it is not a fast spreading disease like corona. People who have already been vaccinated against smallpox or who have already had smallpox are not at a high risk of getting infected. Like smallpox, the mortality rate in monkeypox is not high. Most patients recover in two to four weeks.

Ways to prevent monkeypox

  • Stay away from infected animals.
  • Avoid close contact with infected people.
  • Wash your hands frequently with soap and water.
  • Wear a mask in public places.
