Actor Mohanraj, better known for playing the role of Keerikkadan Jose, has passed away on Thursday.
Known for his portrayal of villainous roles, he acted in approximately 300 films throughout his career. He had been suffering from Parkinson’s disease and moved to Thiruvananthapuram a year ago from Chennai for Ayurvedic treatment.
Mohanraj made his silver screen debut in 1988 with the film ‘Moonam Mura’ and featured in numerous Malayalam films. After 2008, he acted in only two Malayalam films.
He last appeared in Mammootty’s ‘Rorschach’ in 2022, where he played the character Viswanathan. In addition to his work in Malayalam cinema, Mohan Raj featured in nine Tamil films and 31 Telugu films.
His funeral will be held on Friday. He is survived by his wife Usha and two daughters, Jaishma and Kaaviya.
