Sanjay Tandon, who was the BJP candidate in the Lok Sabha elections, has filed a petition in the Punjab-Haryana High Court and said that Manish Tiwari’s victory should be cancelled.

Tandon has alleged in his appeal that Manish Tiwari was involved in corrupt practices during the Lok Sabha elections. Also, Tiwari won with corrupt practices. It is being told that the matter will now be heard in the High Court on September 9. At present, the petition filed in the High Court has created a new crisis for Manish Tiwari’s MP post. It should be noted that earlier, during the Lok Sabha election results in Chandigarh, there was a ruckus over the counting of votes.

The result of Lok Sabha Elections-2024 was declared on 4 June 2024. In Chandigarh, Congress-AAP India alliance candidate Manish Tiwari defeated BJP’s Sanjay Tandon by a narrow margin of 2,504 votes. Tiwari won the Chandigarh parliamentary seat by getting 2,16,657 votes, while Sanjay Tandon got 2,14,153 votes. The counting of votes was done in a total of 15 rounds. Meanwhile, a direct and tough contest was seen between Sanjay Tandon and Manish Tiwari.

There were a total of 19 candidates in the Chandigarh election fray

A total of 19 candidates tried their luck in the Chandigarh Lok Sabha elections-2024, including BJP candidate Sanjay Tandon and Congress-Aam Aadmi Party India alliance candidate Manish Tiwari. There were many independent candidates among the candidates. At the same time, there was no candidate from Akali Dal in Chandigarh. While Dr. Ritu Singh was the candidate from Bahujan Samaj Party in Chandigarh. Dr. Ritu Singh stood third. The contest was direct only between Manish Tiwari and Sanjay Tandon.
