Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has declared the name wise result of the successful candidates in UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2024. Candidates can check the results and name wise list by visiting the official website of UPSC upsc.gov.in. The commission had declared the result of the preliminary examination on July 1. The candidates declared successful in the preliminary examination will now appear in the main examination.
UPSC CSE 2024 preliminary exam was conducted in pen paper mode on 16 June 2024 at designated centers across the country. The exam was conducted in two shifts. A total of 400 questions were asked in the exam. The preliminary exam consisted of a total of two papers and objective type questions were asked in the exam.

How many candidates will appear in the main exam?
More than 13 lakh candidates had applied to appear in the preliminary examination. The organization has declared a total of 14, 627 candidates successful for the main examination. According to the official schedule released by UPSC, the main examination will be conducted on 20 September 2024. Candidates successful in the Mains exam will appear in the interview.
This time, recruitments are to be made for a total of 1056 posts for the UPSC Civil Services Examination. These include the posts of Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS) and Indian Foreign Service (IFS). Out of the total vacancies, 40 have been reserved for candidates of benchmark handicapped category.
