
Kullu Dussehra 2024: Chief Parliamentary Secretary and Chairman of the District Level International KulluDussehra Organizing Committee Sunder Singh Thakur addressed the ’30 Days to Go’ inaugural ceremony at Himachal Sadan in New Delhi late Friday evening.

This year the International Kullu Dussehra will be organised from 13 to 19 October. This time efforts are being made to ensure participation of maximum number of countries in the event. In particular, a cultural programme will also be organised, in which a mix of Indian and foreign culture will be presented. Thakur also mentioned that like every year, the International Dance Festival will be the main attraction of this event, in which the culture of different countries will also be displayed along with the folk dances of Himachal Pradesh.
Invitations were sent to 332 local deities
A glimpse of the historical tradition of Kullu Dussehra will be seen in this inaugural ceremony. About 365 local deities reside in Kullu, due to which this land is known as Devbhoomi. So far, invitations have been sent to 332 local deities for this year’s event and Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu has given instructions to organize this program on a large scale.
Kullu Dussehra will be celebrated according to tradition
The seven-day event will be celebrated as per the tradition of past years, however commercial trade fairs will continue till the festival of Diwali. This includes auto fair, exhibition and stalls put up by the Ministry of Rural Development, Ministry of Textiles and various other organisations. He said the main objective of this programme is to spread awareness about Kullu Dussehra among the people on a large scale and said that this event attracts a large number of tourists, where they can also buy excellent items like handicrafts, woolen garments etc.
Thakur said that Rath Yatra, Cultural Parade, Kullu Carnival, Lalhari, Sports Activities, Kala Kendra Exhibition and Trade Fair will be the main attractions of this seven-day event. On this occasion, he also released the International Kullu Dussehra Brochure. Principal Resident Commissioner SK Singla gave detailed information about the event. Chief Forest Conservator Neeraj Chaddha and Assistant Commissioner Shashi Pal Negi of Deputy Commissioner Kullu were also present on this occasion.
