Panchkula. Kiran Chaudhary has been nominated by the Bharatiya Janata Party for the Rajya Sabha by-election to be held on September 3 in Haryana.
The meeting of the legislative party has approved the name of the Rajya Sabha candidate. Deepender Hooda is currently an MP from Rohtak. After he became an MP, a Rajya Sabha seat in Haryana became vacant. Elections are now to be held for this seat.
The name of former MP Kuldeep Bishnoi was also in discussion
Due to the assembly elections in Haryana, the Bharatiya Janata Party did not want to take the risk of sending any outsider leader to the Rajya Sabha from here.
BJP had decided in principle that only a leader or worker from Haryana would be sent to Rajya Sabha. Among Jat leaders, the names of former minister Kiran Chaudhary and his former MP daughter Shruti Chaudhary were in discussion. While among non-Jat leaders, the name of former MP Kuldeep Bishnoi was also in discussion.
Elections will be held in eight states
