Jitiya Vrat 2024 :Fasts and festivals have great importance in Hinduism. Mothers keep Jitiya fast for the longevity, good health and happy life of their children. It is also called Jivitputrika fast. This fast is kept every year on the Ashtami date of Krishna Paksha of Ashwin month. According to religious belief, on the day of Jitiya fast, Lord Jimutvahan is worshipped during Jimutvahan Pradosh period. In this fast, Nahai, Khay and Kharna are followed and Sun God is worshipped by offering Arghya. When is Jitiya Vrat 2024?
According to the Drik Panchang, this year the Ashtami Tithi of Krishna Paksha of Ashwin month will start on 24 September 2024 at 12:39 pm and will end the next day on 25 September 2024 at 12:10 pm. Therefore, according to the Udayatithi, Jivitputrika Vrat will be observed on 25 September and Nahaye-Khaye will start on 24 September. At the same time, the fast will be broken on 26 September.
Jitiya Vrat Puja Vidhi:
On the day of Jitiya fast, wake up early in the morning and take a bath.
Worship the Sun God. Keep a clean stool in the temple.
Spread a red cloth on it.
Install the idol of Surya Narayana and bathe him.
Offer incense, lamp and offering to Surya Narayan.
Now make statues of jackal and eagle from cow dung or clay.
Install the idol of Lord Jimutavahana.
Now worship Jimutvahana as per the rituals and listen to the story of the fast.
Rules of Jitiya fast:
After starting Jitiya Vrat, it is not abandoned in between. On this day, after taking bath, Lord Jimutvahan made of Kush is worshipped.
Follow the rules of celibacy during the fast.
It is believed that during Jitiya fast, one should not bring negative thoughts in mind even knowingly or unknowingly.
It is said that during Jitiya fast, the woman who takes a vow to fast should not sit or sleep on the bed.
