Derabassi: Two robbers on a motorcycle escaped from a chemist shop in front of Gulmohar City Apartment on Derabassi Haibatpur Road after robbing a woman shopkeeper of her neck chain, ring and two bangles in broad daylight. After snatching the jewellery, both of them fled quickly towards Derabassi. Derabassi police is searching for the robbers by checking the CCTV footage.
According to the information, this incident happened at Grace Medical Hall located in front of Gulmohar City on Haibatpur Road at around 2.30 pm. This shop is run by 34-year-old Deepika, wife of Rohit, resident of Punjabi Bagh Derabassi. In her statement to the police, Deepika said that a young man wearing a turban came to her on a bike. He went inside and asked for a syringe for injection but she refused to give the syringe. He went towards Haibatpur. After about 5 minutes, he came with another young man. Both of them parked their motorcycles outside and went inside.
As soon as he came, he snatched the chain from her neck and took out her gold bangles and ring by holding both her hands. Meanwhile, the youth fled towards Derabassi with the jewellery on a motorcycle. While escaping, the robber’s pencil and the cutter used to peel the electric wires fell on the spot. The police has taken it into custody. After getting the information, DSP Ajit Pal, who is holding additional charge of Derabassi, Derabassi police station in-charge Mandeep Singh and Mubarakpur outpost in-charge Satnam Singh also reached the spot and inspected the spot along with the CCTV footage. He said that the robbers will be caught soon. At present, on Deepika’s complaint, Mubarakpur police has started the process of registering a case.
