Imane Khelif Gold Medal Medal Amid Gender Controversy: Algerian female boxer Imane Khelif has won the gold medal at the Paris Olympics 2024. Last Friday, Iman Khalifa won the gold medal in the women’s 66 kg weight category. Algerian female boxer was in a lot of discussions about gender controversy. Iman Khalifa was even accused of being a biological male. Iman won the gold medal in the final match against China’s Yang Liu.

However, the International Olympic Committee believed that she met their standards, due to which she was allowed to participate in the competition. Iman eventually won the gold medal. But it is worth noting that female boxers from different countries participating in different matches had raised their voice against Iman.

Iman Khalifa played the 16th round match against Italian boxer Angela Carini. The Italian boxer gave up the fight in a few seconds and walked out of the ring. After this, Iman Khalifa won all her matches one-sidedly till the final.

In the quarter-finals, Iman Khalifa faced Hungary’s Luka Anna Hamari. In this match, Iman Khalifa won 5-0 and made it to the semi-finals. Then in the semi-finals, the Algerian boxer defeated Thailand’s Janjem Suwannapheng 5-0.

One-sided victory in the final too

Iman Khalifa, who registered a spectacular victory in the semi-finals, also won the finals one-sidedly. In the final played for the gold medal, Iman defeated China’s Yang Liu 5-0. In this way, she won the gold in the Paris Olympics amidst controversies.

Was dropped from the 2023 World Championships 

It is worth noting that Iman Khalifa was excluded from the World Boxing Championship in 2023. Iman had failed to meet the gender eligibility criteria in the championship, due to which she had to be out.
