This time a lot of money has been allocated in the budget for the Central Police Force which protects the country’s borders, internal security and security of important institutions. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has announced Rs 2,19,643.31 crore for the Home Ministry in the Union Budget 2024-25.

In this, the maximum amount i.e. Rs 1,43,275.90 crore has been allotted to the Central Police Forces like CRPF, BSF, CISF. They work for the security of the country’s border, internal and important institutions. In the space budget, Rs 2,02,868.70 crore was announced for the ministry of Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

In the current budget, Nirmala Sitharaman has allotted a budget of Rs 42,774.74 crore for Jammu and Kashmir, which comes under the direct supervision of the Center after the removal of Article 370. The special status of Jammu and Kashmir was removed in August 2019. After this, it was divided into two union territories.

Census budget increased, NDRF budget reduced

In this budget, Rs 1309.46 crore has been allocated for census. In the last budget, it was only Rs 578.29 crore. Rs 1606.95 crore has been allocated for NDRF. It was Rs 1666.38 crore last year. That means about Rs 60 crore less has been allocated.

BSF: Rs 25,472.44 crore
CISF: Rs 14,331.89 crore
ITBP: Rs 8634.21 crore
SSB: Rs 8881.81 crore
Assam Rifles: Rs 7428.33 crore

CRPF is deployed for internal security in the entire country. Be it fighting terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir or fighting Naxalites in the forests. Or be it a case of infiltration in the North-East. BSF soldiers are deployed on the border of Pakistan and Bangladesh. They are also deployed for internal security.

On the other hand, CISF is engaged in the security of nuclear plants, airports, metro networks etc. ITBP is engaged in the security of the China border. While the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) protects the India-Nepal and India-Bhutan border. While Assam Rifles protect the India-Myanmar border.

Delhi Police’s budget reduced, SPG’s increased

Intelligence Bureau (IB) has been allotted Rs 3823.83 crores. Which is about Rs 550 crores more than last year. Delhi Police has received Rs 11,180.33 crores. This is about Rs 700 crores less than last year. Whereas Special Protection Group (SPG) has received Rs 506.32 crores, which is Rs 50 crores more than last year.

Rs 3756.51 crore has been given for border infrastructure and management. Rs 3152.36 crore has been given for police infrastructure and Rs 1105 crore has been given for women’s security. Apart from this, Rs 9305.43 crore has been given for central sector projects. Rs 3199.62 crore has been given for security related expenses and Rs 1050 crore for Vibrant Village Program.
