Jagannathpur Temple’s Pandit Kaustubh Mishra explained that before Holika Dahan, a puja is performed with rituals, including applying roli, haldi, and gulal to Holika, followed by offerings of water, roli, kachcha suta, batasha, rice, flowers, and coconut. After these offerings, seven parikramas are performed around Holika.
Pandit Ramdev Pandey shared the mythological story behind Holika Dahan, where Lord Vishnu saved his devotee Prahlad from his aunt Holika’s attempt to burn him alive. This story symbolizes the triumph of good over evil.
The Holika Dahan puja is considered significant in the Sanatana Dharma, as it symbolizes the burning away of all sorrows and misfortunes. Performing this puja is believed to alleviate grahadosh and bring prosperity.
