Thousands of students from every corner of the country come to Delhi to prepare for IAS and other exams and study in various coaching institutes here, but the dream of these three students was shattered even before they could become IAS. Let us know about the three young students who were victims of this tragedy…
Shreya Yadav: Shreya Yadav was a resident of Uttar Pradesh and had come to Delhi with the hope of clearing the prestigious Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) exam. The girl’s family’s home is in the Ambedkar Nagar district of the state. The girl’s uncle was currently present outside the hospital in Delhi, where her body was post-mortemed. The post-mortem was conducted at Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital. Her father lives in Uttar Pradesh. After the post-mortem, doctors gave preliminary information to her family that Shreya died due to dirty water entering her body and she suffocated in the basement of the building. Police said that her organs were damaged due to dirty water.
Police said that the body of the student has been handed over to her family after post-mortem. According to the report, after receiving the body, they have left for their hometown in UP.
Tania Soni: 25-year-old Tania Soni was originally from Aurangabad in Bihar. Her family currently lives in Telangana. Police said the family’s house is in Aurangabad’s Nabibnagar area. Her body’s post-mortem has also been completed. Her father is now taking her body back to his hometown. Her body was pulled out from the basement a few hours after the rescue operation began.
Naveen Delvin: 28-year-old Naveen Delvin died due to water logging in the basement of the coaching centre. He was a resident of Ernakulam, Kerala. His body was the last body to be recovered from the basement. Firefighters recovered his body late on Saturday night. There is mourning at his home in Kerala.
How did the basement of the coaching centre get filled with water?
According to the report, the library running in the basement of the coaching centre building was built illegally. It can accommodate around 150 students at a time. Many students were inside the library when the water filled in it.
The building was built on a slope and police said this could be a major reason for the water entering the building so quickly. Some people blamed the overflowing of the sewer drain for the flooding in the basement, but this is still being investigated.
Officials said that the gate of the building broke due to the flow of water. The Delhi government has ordered a magistrate to investigate the accident, and this has heated up the politics of Delhi. BJP is attacking the Kejriwal government of Delhi and accusing it of negligence.
