Delhi University Admissions 2024: Even if you did not appear in the CUET UG exam, you can still get admission in Delhi University. Delhi University has said that it will use class 12th marks to fill the seats left vacant after the regular admission process is completed. This decision has been taken after an SOP issued by the University Grants Commission for central universities. UGC has said in the instructions that the seats of all graduate and post graduate courses should be filled.
UGC said that leaving seats vacant for an entire academic year is a waste of resources and deprives many students of quality higher education. DU VC Prof. Yogesh Singh says that we welcome the instructions of UGC. We are also sensitive to the fact that seats should not remain vacant in any course. We will use the marks of 12th class to fill the vacant seats in the graduate program.
71 thousand seats in DU
Last year, around 5,000 seats in DU remained vacant despite being filled through various methods. According to the SOP issued by the UGC, universities can conduct their own entrance exams for graduate (UG) and post graduate (PG) courses if there are vacancies after the regular admission phases. The admission process for the 2024-25 academic session is currently underway. Delhi University is offering over 71,000 seats in over 65 colleges through the Common University Entrance Test Undergraduate (CUET UG).

Around 270,000 students registered on the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS) portal in the first phase of the university admission process that began on May 28. The UGC guidelines state that CUET scores will continue to be the main criteria for admission to central universities. According to reports, students who have taken CUET, whether or not they have previously applied for courses or programmes in the respective university, may also be considered. If the CUET applicant list is exhausted, universities may conduct their own entrance exams to fill the vacant seats or may ask the concerned department to conduct a screening test.
