
Chandigarh Police Achieve Major Breakthrough in Robbery Case
In a significant development, the Chandigarh Police have arrested two accused persons in connection with a robbery case, marking a major breakthrough in the investigation. The accused, identified as Vikas @ Lalla (19) and Vijay (21), were apprehended from a forest area near Makhan Majra Barrier, Mauli Jagran, Chandigarh on March 3, 2025.
According to the police, the robbery occurred on March 1, 2025, when the victim, Rajni Yadav, a e-rickshaw driver, was parked near Vikas Nagar light point. Two boys, aged 20-22 years, approached her and demanded that she hand over her belongings. When she refused, they threatened her with a knife and robbed her purse, containing approximately Rs. 1,100, a pair of silver anklets, a mobile phone, and other documents.
The police recovered a knife, Rs. 300, one pair of silver anklet, and a photocopy of the victim’s Aadhaar card from the accused. Both accused have been sent to 14-day judicial custody, and further investigation is ongoing.
The arrest was made possible under the direction of Ms. Kanwardeep Kaur IPS W/SSP UT, Chandigarh, Ms. Geetanjali, SP/City, and the close supervision of Sh. Vijay Singh, SDPO/North-East, and Inspector/SHO Hariom Sharma, Police Station-Mauli Jagran. The police team was headed by ASI Ashwani Kumar.
