Chandigarh. Member of Congress Election Planning Committee and former MLA from Barwala Ramniwas Ghodela has demanded representation of backward classes in the Vidhan Sabha and Lok Sabha in proportion to their population. He also thanked Rajya Sabha MP Deepender Hooda for raising his voice for giving representation to backward classes in proportion to their population in the country’s largest Panchayat Parliament. He said that backward classes are the majority population, but they are not being given representation in the Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha, whereas in many places in the country, including the state, the population of backward classes is higher in the Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha. This includes Haryana’s BC-A class, which is mostly in the category of landless backward classes and is known as a skilled and hardworking class. This class plays a very important role in the development of the country and the state.
Traditional craftsmen, artisans, artists etc. This category includes Jangra community, Prajapati Kumhar community, Vishwakarma community, Panchal community, Swarnakar Soni community, Sain community, Kashyap community, Pal Gadaria community, Jogi community, Teli community, Dhobi community, Kamboj community, Dhiman community, Chimpa community, Bairagi community, Rohilla community, Maniyar community etc. This majority community does not get as much representation as their population in the entire country and state. Their demand from the government is that after the new delimitation, in the seats that will increase in the entire country and states, such a system should be made that either some seats should be reserved for BC-A category or it should be ensured through some other system that they also get full representation in the Legislative Assemblies and Lok Sabha according to their caste population.
Ghodela demanded that it is very important to conduct caste census before the new delimitation. So that on that basis seats can be reserved in proportion to the population of BC-A category and the political participation of the most backward class (BC-A) can increase in the democratic system. He demanded from the government that after delimitation, to give political representation to the most backward class (BCA) on the basis of caste census in Lok Sabha, Assembly constituencies, it is necessary that some assembly, Lok Sabha seats should also be reserved for them on the lines of SC/ST.
The former MLA thanked MP Deepender Hooda for raising the voice of the backward classes in Parliament. He also thanked former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, who had promised to increase the creamy layer in the backward classes and implement 27 per cent reservation if he formed the government.
