Arvind Kejriwal Latest News: After the judicial custody of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal ends, the CBI will present him in the Rouse Avenue Court on Thursday in the money laundering case related to the excise policy. His bail plea was rejected by the Delhi High Court on August 5. The court had asked the CM to file a bail plea in the lower court.
On Monday, after hearing the petition of CM Arvind Kejriwal, the Delhi High Court had said that it cannot be said that the CBI has arrested him without any concrete reason.
‘Fair investigation is difficult without arrest’
During the hearing of this case, the CBI had told the court that the role of the CM is important in the Delhi Excise Policy case. The case could not be investigated without his arrest. If he gets bail, he can influence the case.
He was arrested by ED on 21 March
Let us tell you that in November 2021, the Delhi government had brought a new excise policy for the liquor sellers of the capital. After the controversy regarding this reached its peak, the LG ordered a CBI inquiry. In this case, after AAP leader Manish Sisodia and party MP Sanjay Singh, the ED arrested him on March 21. The Supreme Court had granted interim bail of 21 days to Arvind Kejriwal to campaign in favor of the party candidate during the Lok Sabha elections.
After the Lok Sabha election campaign ended, he surrendered at Tihar Jail on June 2. Since then he is in judicial custody. Meanwhile, he got interim bail from the Supreme Court in the ED case, but before that he was arrested by the CBI in the corruption case after hours of interrogation in Tihar Jail. Today, the CBI will present him in the Rouse Avenue Court in this case.
