Amritsar- A case has come to light in which employees of a private store beat up a government employee for not allowing them to enter the emergency room of Guru Nanak Dev Hospital. The seriously injured government employee is undergoing treatment in the hospital. The Medical Superintendent of the hospital, Dr. Karamjit Singh, has taken the matter seriously and has written a letter to the police to take action against those who beat up the police.

Medical Superintendent Dr. Karamjit Singh said that the entry of employees of private medical stores in the emergency of Guru Nanak Dev Hospital has been banned and government employees have been clearly told that if any employee of a private medical store or lab enters the emergency, appropriate action will be taken in this regard. Action will be taken against the employee.

According to Dr. Karamjit Singh, at around 3 am, a private medical store owner tried to forcefully enter the emergency room outside the hospital, when the on-duty employee stopped him, the person concerned, along with 5-6 other people, started beating the employee in the government premises outside the emergency. Meanwhile, when the security personnel present on the spot tried to catch the people who were beating him, they fled from the spot. He said that one person has been identified, while the rest are unidentified.

Dr. Karamjit said that such incidents will not be tolerated in a government hospital under any circumstances. Taking the matter seriously, he has written a letter to the police administration and the SHO of Majitha Road police station. He has talked to them and demanded strict action by intervening in the matter. He said that the government employee has suffered serious injuries and the medical report will also be submitted to the police. He said that the employee of any private medical store will not be allowed to enter the government hospital. If any government employee or doctor is misbehaved with by forcibly entering any store, then strict legal action will be taken. He said that talks are also being held with the Police Commissioner in this regard and it will be demanded that strict action be taken against those who violate the rules.

Medical Superintendent Dr. Karamjit Singh said that Guru Nanak Dev Hospital is famous for good health services across Punjab and apart from Amritsar, people from outside districts also come in large numbers to avail the services. Free medicines and tests are being done by the government, but some private medical stores and labs are deliberately trying to spoil the atmosphere, which will not be tolerated under any circumstances. On the other hand, the police has also taken the statement of the government employee admitted in the hospital and various organizations are standing in support of the employee.
