Governors have been appointed in nine states including Telangana and Jharkhand. Giving information, Rashtrapati Bhavan said that Santosh Kumar Gangwar has been appointed as the new Governor of Jharkhand. At the same time, CP Radhakrishnan, who was the Governor of Jharkhand, will now be the new Governor of Maharashtra. Laxman Prasad Acharya has been appointed as the Governor of Assam. He will also have the additional charge of Governor of Manipur.
Gulab Chand Kataria, former Governor of Assam, has been appointed as the Governor of Punjab and Administrator of the Union Territory of Chandigarh. CH Vijayshankar has been appointed as the Governor of Meghalaya, Raman Deka as the Governor of Chhattisgarh, Haribhau Kisanrao Bagde as the Governor of Rajasthan, Jishnu Dev Verma as the Governor of Telangana and Om Prakash Mathur as the Governor of Sikkim.
Apart from this, K Kailashnathan has been appointed as the Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry. According to a press release issued by Rashtrapati Bhavan on Saturday night, Haribhau Kisanrao Bagde has been appointed as the Governor of Rajasthan. The press release said that these appointments will be effective from the date they assume charge of their respective offices.
Kailashnathan, who has been appointed as the Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry, is a former IAS officer of Gujarat cadre. Kailashnathan was the Chief Principal Secretary to PM Modi during his tenure as Chief Minister. He completed his tenure on 30 June this year. Despite retirement in 2013, he was given 11 extensions of service.
Iconic hall of Rashtrapati Bhavan renamed
The iconic ‘Darbar Hall’ and ‘Ashoka Hall’ of Rashtrapati Bhavan were renamed as ‘Ganatantra Mandap’ and ‘Ashoka Mandap’ on Thursday. These halls are the venues for various ceremonial functions.
Rashtrapati Bhavan, President’s Office and residence are symbols of the nation and are a priceless heritage of the public. The statement said, continuous efforts are being made to make them more accessible to the public. Continuous efforts were made to make the atmosphere of Rashtrapati Bhavan in accordance with Indian cultural values and ethos. In this sequence, President Draupadi Murmu has renamed two prestigious halls of Rashtrapati Bhavan ‘Darbar Hall’ as ‘Ganatantra Mandap’ and ‘Ashok Hall’ as ‘Ashok Mandap’.
