Aman Sehrawat has made his mark in the Paris Olympics. The rival wrestlers had no answer to his fit move. Due to which Aman Sehrawat won both the wrestling matches by technical superiority. The boy from Jhajjar will now play the semi-final match in the 57 kg weight category of wrestling against a wrestler from Japan tonight at 9 pm.
It is worth mentioning that the Fitley move which has brought success to Aman Sehrawat was invented by Yogeshwar Dutt. In the world of wrestling, Fitley’s move is known by the name of Yogeshwar Dutt, just like in the world of cricket, the helicopter shot is known as Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Yogeshwar Dutt has won a bronze medal in the London Olympics in 2012. Apart from this, he has won other medals including gold in Asian and Commonwealth Games.
Jhajjar resident Aman Sehrawat’s parents died in his childhood. Aman’s father’s dream was that his son would win a medal in wrestling. Although his father left Aman, the burden of his father’s dreams was on Aman’s shoulders. Due to which he continued wrestling and is now close to fulfilling that dream. Just one win will fulfill his late father’s dream.
Let us tell you that after the death of Aman’s parents, his aunt raised him. Seeing Aman at this level in Paris Olympics, tears came in his aunt’s eyes. She said that I say with confidence that Aman will win gold. She said that ‘Aman had said that he will definitely fulfill his father’s dream.’
Aman Sehrawat won his first national championship title in 2021. He used to train under coach Lalit Kumar. In January 2024, he won the gold medal in the men’s 57kg event at the Zagreb Open Wrestling Tournament by defeating China’s Xu Wanhao with a perfect score of 10-0 in the final.
5 big names of wrestling including Aman emerged from Chhatrasal Stadium
The wrestling nursery Chhatrasal Stadium where Aman Sehrawat learned wrestling skills has produced four Olympian wrestlers. These include Sushil Kumar, Yogeshwar Dutt, Bajrang Punia and Ravi Dahiya. Now the fifth name in this list is Aman Sehrawat. Although Aman Sehrawat has not yet won a medal in the Olympics. But it is expected that Aman will be the fifth warrior of Chhatrasal Stadium who will hoist the Indian flag in Paris.
Aman defeats his mentor
Aman considered Ravi Dahiya as his mentor. One of the many reasons for this was that like Aman, Ravi also came to Chhatrasal Stadium in his childhood to learn wrestling tricks. Here Aman tried every possible way to become like Ravi. Aman always watched Ravi training carefully, his keen eyes followed Ravi in the wrestling arena, eager to see what he was doing. Due to which Ravi is becoming so successful. If he saw something of Ravi that he liked, he tried to include it in his routine. He tried to train and eat like Ravi, he wanted to be like Ravi.
But a day (trial for 2022 Commonwealth Games) soon came in front of Aman, when his guru Ravi Dahiya was standing in front of him on the wrestling mat. But in this match, Aman lost to Ravi 0-10. This is where Aman’s way of thinking changed. Now Aman started seeing Ravi not as a guru but as a rival. Soon that day came when Aman defeated his guru Ravi Dahiya.
