Eminent Ayurveda expert Acharya Manish has given green signal to a unique initiative named 'Right to Health Campaign through Ayurveda'. Acharya Manish has been promoting Ayurveda since 1997 and is also the founder of Ayurvedic label 'Shuddhi Ayurved', which has its Corporate Office at Zirakpur near Chandigarh. Acharya Manish officially announced the 'Right to Health Campaign' during a press conference held at the Press Club here. The tagline of this campaign is- 'Ayurveda has to be delivered from door to door'. Acharya Manish said, 'According to Charaka Samhita, the purpose of Ayurveda is to protect the health of a healthy person and to eliminate the disease from the root. The meaning of Ayurveda is the complete science of knowing the age. Ayurveda is not just a medical system, but a way of life. Ayurvedic doctors - Dr. Geetika Chaudhary and Dr. Suyash Pratap Singh were also present in the press conference.
Acharya Manish believes that Ayurveda is essential to achieve the objective of 'right to health' of every Indian. We chose Kovid Yuga to launch this campaign because Ayurveda has come to prominence during this unprecedented pandemic due to its efficacy against COVID. This campaign is a respectable step towards Ayurveda. This campaign will last for 6 months, under which we will create awareness about Ayurveda and allied healing methods through media, special events and programs. Its ultimate aim is to give right to health to the people through Ayurveda.
The World Health Organization (WHO) defines health as 'a complete state of physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity. So to make WHO's definition of health a reality, there is a need for treatment methods that not only treat medical conditions, but also focus on physical and mental well-being. Through this campaign, Acharya Manish and his legal team also want to draw attention to Article 21 of the Constitution, which guarantees security of life and personal liberty to every citizen. The Supreme Court has also held that the rights enshrined in Article 21 are derived from the Directive Principles of State Policy, hence Article 21 also includes 'protection of health'.
Acharya Manish said, 'The right to health is not being implemented because of lack of awareness about the power of Ayurveda in providing holistic health. Ayurveda alone can attest to the definition presented by WHO, as it not only cures diseases, but also improves overall health and immunity, so that disease does not arise. This is well proven by the increase in immunity from Ayurvedic medicines being used during the COVID pandemic. Hence it would not be wrong to say that 'right to health' is a myth without Ayurveda. Acharya Manish further said, 'Allopathy is capable of curing the diseased body only and it is not that effective to protect against infection. It is clear that it will not be possible to get the 'right to health' through allopathy. On the other hand, Ayurveda works to detox the body so that there is no disease at all. It also includes aspects like Yoga, Panchakarma, etc., which ensure comprehensive health. ,
Acharya Manish said, 'Our Ayurvedic label 'Shuddhi' means 'Purification' and our extensive research based and AYUSH approved medicines work on the principle of detox. ,
However, Acharya Manish's major concern is the spread of Ayurveda. While on the one hand the Constitution guarantees the 'right to health', which can be achieved through Ayurveda, on the other hand, Ayurveda is seen as inferior in comparison to Allopathy. Allopathy is still given prominence in treatment and discriminates against Ayurveda and Ayurvedic practitioners.
Meanwhile, Acharya Manish is also happy with some new developments, such as the WHO's decision to set up a traditional medicine center in India and allow Ayurvedic doctors to perform specialized surgeries, etc. Yet much remains to be done. Under the new campaign, top government officials will be asked to set up Ayurveda Board, and give priority to Ayurveda in treatment or at least give it a status at par with allopathy.
Acharya Manish said, “We are also planning for judicial activism to give Ayurveda its rightful place by filing a PIL in the Punjab and Haryana High Court. ,
