SIDBI Swavalamban Mela is being organized with an aim to empower 45 Unserved, underserved, unfunded, challenged segment/sectors Artisans,MLIs from Punjab , Haryana, HP, Delhi, J&K through market exposure in the form of exhibition. The artisans included handicrafts, rajasthan art ,needle art, Imitation jewellery, worldwide Phulkari ,Dairy ,nursery etc.
The mela was inaugurated by Aman Arora, Hon’ble Cabinet Minister for New and renewable energy Govt. of Punjab, and dignitaries along with SIDBI officials including T.H.R.Samad, DGM SIDBI, Chandigarh
The 4 day mela will help craftsmen and Artisans to have a market connect and sell their products.
“The goal was to create a platform which would enable micro enterprises and unserved men/women entrepreneurs in promoting their products. This exhibition will also help them connect with various stakeholders and maximise their sales,” said senior official in the city office.
The Mela aims to spread entrepreneurship culture across the country. “We want to turn youth from ‘job seekers’ to ‘job creators’, restrict rural migration to urban areas and also promote sustainable livelihood opportunities. Skilling, credit connect, and market connect are the 3 pillars of this exhibition,” the official added.
