
Chandigarh city, on Wednesday, witnessed a grand celebration of Guru Ravidas Jayanti, with the Punjab Government Residents Welfare Organization, Sector 39C, organizing a special event to commemorate the birth anniversary of the revered saint. The event saw a large gathering of people from surrounding areas, who participated in the recitation of Sri Sukhmani Sahib’s path.
Mayor Harpreet Kaur Babla, Senior Deputy Mayor Jasbir Singh Banti, Area Councilor Gurbaksh Rawat, and Councilor Lakhbir Singh were among the dignitaries who paid floral tributes to Guru Ravidas’ statue and sought his blessings. Daljit Singh, President of the Punjab Government Residents Welfare Organization, along with other prominent figures, including General Secretary Babulal, Ram Satish Kumar, Dalvinder Saini, Sanjeev Grover, and Harkesh Barotia, also graced the occasion.
In her address, Mayor Harpreet Kaur Babla highlighted the significance of Guru Ravidas’ teachings, emphasizing the importance of establishing a caste-free society by staying away from casteism. Senior Deputy Mayor Jasbir Singh Batti added that Guru Ravidas’ teachings inspire us to take a pledge to bring unity in society, create awareness among people, and eradicate untouchability.
The event served as a testament to the city’s commitment to upholding the values of equality, justice, and social harmony, as embodied in the teachings of Guru Ravidas.
