Arvind Kejriwal

Delhi: After Arvind Kejriwal’s resignation, Delhi will get a new Chief Minister today. Atishi will take oath as the new Chief Minister of Delhi at 4:30 pm today. Along with Atishi, 5 cabinet ministers will also take oath. This swearing-in ceremony will be organized at Raj Niwas. Arvind Kejriwal resigned from the post of Chief Minister of Delhi on 17 September, after which the party has chosen Atishi for the post of CM. On the other hand, the President has accepted Arvind Kejriwal’s resignation from the post of Delhi CM and appointed Atishi as the Chief Minister of Delhi from the date of her swearing-in. Along with this, the President has also approved the appointment of 5 ministers.

Kejriwal resigned from the post of CM

Kejriwal had announced his decision to resign from the post of Chief Minister on Sunday. He had said that he would sit on the Chief Minister’s chair only when people would give him a certificate of honesty. After this, he met the LG and submitted his resignation. After his resignation, Atishi had staked a claim to the LG to form a new government of Aam Aadmi Party. Atishi is the main face of the party and the government. She handles many departments including Finance, Education and PWD. Atishi will become the second leader of Aam Aadmi Party to take oath as the Chief Minister of Delhi after Arvind Kejriwal.

Atishi will be the third woman CM of Delhi

Aam Aadmi Party’s Atishi will be the third woman to become the Chief Minister of Delhi after BJP’s Sushma Swaraj and Congress’ Sheila Dixit. Aam Aadmi Party has given Atishi the top post at a crucial juncture, as the party is not only hoping to return to power in the Delhi Assembly elections early next year, but also wants the Delhi government to work fast on pending policies and schemes related to public welfare. This is why Atishi will have to work hard after assuming office and work at a fast pace to ensure the implementation of other schemes like Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana, Electric Vehicle Policy 2.0 and doorstep service delivery. However, Atishi is not new to facing such situations.
