Indian female wrestler Vinesh Phogat was disqualified in the final of 50 kg freestyle wrestling, a shocking incident for India. Vinesh defeated top seed and Tokyo 2020 champion Yui Susaki of Japan in her very first bout at the Paris Olympics. After this, Vinesh entered the final by winning two more bouts. But, during the weight measurement before the final bout, Vinesh’s weight came out to be 100 grams more than the set standard, and she was disqualified from going to the final.

Vinesh fought three consecutive bouts on Tuesday and won all three. However, her weight was found to be increasing rapidly during the bout. This information was given by Dr. Dinshaw Pardiwala, who is working with Vinesh in the Paris Olympics. Dr. Dinshaw Pardiwala said that Vinesh’s medical team has made every effort to reduce Vinesh’s weight.

When a wrestler competes in a weight category lower than his normal weight, he has the advantage of fighting relatively weaker opponents. But to lose weight, one has to take care of diet, water intake and other things. Apart from this, the athlete also has to sweat. He said that after coming into the light weight category, weakness and energy decreases. Therefore, such wrestlers usually have to focus on energy food after weighing.

The size of the clothes was also reduced

Dr. Dinshaw Pardiwala said that we tried all the measures to reduce Vinesh’s weight. Even Vinesh’s hair was cut, her clothes were also shortened. But even after all these efforts, the weight could not be reduced. Currently Vinesh is being given fluids through veins in the local Olympic Hospital. All her parameters are normal. He also spoke to PT Usha. She is completely normal physically.

Vinesh had to be given some amount of water to prevent dehydration.

Vinesh had three consecutive bouts, so she had to be given some amount of water to prevent dehydration. However, it was seen that after the bout, Vinesh’s weight was increasing more than normal. For this, the coach started the usual ‘weight cut’ process on Vinesh, and he was confident that Vinesh’s weight would come under control after the night. However, despite all the efforts in the morning, it was 100 grams more and Vinesh became ineligible for the final bout.
