Tarn Taran: Punjab Vigilance Bureau has taken a big action today during its campaign against corruption in the state. It is being told that Inspector Gurinder Singh of the Cooperative Department posted on the post of Secretary in the Multipurpose Cooperative Society of Village Bhura Kohna was arrested red handed while taking a bribe of Rs 15 thousand. 

Giving information in this regard, the official spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said that the accused has been arrested on the basis of a complaint by Varinder Singh, a resident of Tarn Taran district. He further said that the complainant approached the Vigilance Bureau and alleged in his complaint that the accused concerned had demanded Rs 1.5 lakh in exchange for restoring the said cooperative society. The complainant further said that the accused demanded a bribe of Rs 15,000 from him in the name of meeting the Joint Registrar, Cooperative Society, Jalandhar in this regard.

The spokesperson further said that after preliminary investigation of the complaint, the team of Vigilance Bureau laid a trap and caught the accused inspector red handed while accepting a bribe of Rs. 15000 in the presence of 2 government witnesses. He said that in this regard a case has been registered against the said accused under the Anti-Corruption Act in Amritsar Range Police Station of Vigilance Bureau. He said that the accused will be produced in the Hon’ble Court tomorrow and further investigation is going on in this regard.
