Panchkula: A proposal has been passed by Punjabi Ekta Manch, Panchkula to give ticket to senior Congress leader and former city council president Ravinder Rawal from Panchkula in Haryana assembly elections. In the convention of Punjabi Ekta Manch held at the community center in Sector 15, Panchkula on Sunday, approving this proposal, the delegation of the Sabha decided to give a memorandum to Congress leader Bhupendra Singh Hooda and state president Chaudhary Udaybhan. Hundreds of people from the Punjabi community, including the president of the forum Ravinder Rawal, senior vice president Yog Raj Munjal, general secretary Kailash Sardana, vice president OP Taneja, finance secretary Subhash Batra, joint secretary VK Sareen and executive members, were present in the convention.

In this meeting of the Punjab community, a unanimous resolution was passed that the State Congress should declare Ravindra Rawal as its candidate from Panchkula Assembly constituency. He said that for this, a delegation of the Punjabi community will meet former Chief Minister Bhupendra Singh Hooda and State President Chaudhary Udaybhan at the Nyay Rally to be held in Karnal on August 18 and will request them to give ticket to Ravindra Rawal.

Punjabi community was always ignored

In a press conference, Ravindra Rawal said that he has been working as a Congress worker for the last 43 years. Since the formation of the Municipal Council in 2002, the Punjabi community has had the highest participation in every election. But in the 2020 Municipal Corporation elections, not a single councilor could be elected from the Punjabi Sabha. The biggest reason for this is the neglect of the Punjabi community. He told that according to the current voter list in the city, there are 2 lakh 35 thousand voters in Panchkula constituency, out of which more than 50 thousand people belong to the Punjabi community. Who want their representation in the government somewhere. A resolution was also passed in the meeting that if Congress gives Ravindra Rawal a ticket for the assembly elections, then the Punjabi community will put the Panchkula seat in the Congress’s bag.

Ravindra Rawal clarified in the press conference that whether it is the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections or the last assembly elections, he has always participated for public support for the Congress party by following the orders of the Congress. Talking about the strong contenders from Panchkula seat, Ravindra Rawal said that for the last four years he alone has been successful in gathering public support in Panchkula for the upliftment of the party. Now even if the Congress gives ticket to any other candidate, he will still work day and night for the party in his own way.

Punjabi Bhawan will start in December

Ravindra Rawal said that in the year 2014, former Chief Minister of the state Bhupinder Singh Hooda had allotted land for Punjabi Bhawan to bring the Punjabi community under one roof in Panchkula. Due to the tireless efforts of the Punjabi community of Panchkula for the Bhawan in the last ten years, today three floors of the Bhawan have been constructed and after two more floors are ready by December, the Bhawan will be dedicated to the public.
