Ransomware Attack on Bank: Many small banks in India have been hit by a cyber attack. Due to this attack, the customers of these banks are facing problems in making payments. Actually, the target of the attack is a company named ‘C-Edge Technology’, which provides technical services to these banks. On this cyber attack, Reuters has sought feedback from ‘C-Edge Technology’ via email, but the company has not yet responded to it.
NPCI took this step
Considering the severity of the attack, the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has temporarily disconnected C-Edge from the payment system. This means that C-Edge customers will face problems in making payments for the time being. The entire system of banks has been affected due to the cyber attack on C-Edge. NPCI has taken this step to prevent the attack from spreading.
What will happen next?
Currently, officials are investigating this cyber attack on banks and are trying to find a solution soon. Banks are also being asked to further strengthen their security system. Right now some users may face some problems in making payments. For this, you will have to keep an eye on the bank’s website or app for updates.
RBI had already issued a warning
According to the information, there are about 1,500 cooperative and regional banks in India at present, most of which operate outside big cities. Reuters report states that some of these include small banks. Not only this, NPCI is also working on preventing the attack from spreading. Let us tell you that before this attack, RBI and Indian cyber officials had also issued a warning to Indian banks about a possible cyber attack some time ago.
