There was a time when Bhukkal Maharaj was the king of Prayagraj (formerly Allahabad). A mafia whose name used to come up in all kinds of cases from theft to robbery and extortion to kidnapping in Prayagraj, but the police did not know who this criminal was. Despite being wanted in more than two dozen serious crimes, the police could never catch this criminal, let alone see his face. Many times the police raided his hideouts, but he used to ‘disappear’ in front of the police as if he had never come to that place.
This can be guessed from a small incident of the year 1981, in which Bhukkal Maharaj reached the SSP office with the then Home Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Chaudhary Naunihal Singh. At that time, as soon as Naunihal Singh introduced himself to SSP Haridas Rao, he stood up from his chair. He expressed his gratitude towards Naunihal Singh. He said that because of him he was able to meet such a big criminal. At that time, BP Singh’s government was in power in Uttar Pradesh and as soon as BP Singh got the news of this meeting, he took away Naunihal Singh’s ministry.
Atiq Ahmed was taught the basics of crime
In this case, CM BP Singh had also suspended SSP Allahabad Haridas Rao. Yes, this was the don who taught the basics of crime to Allahabad’s notorious gangster Atiq Ahmed. Bhukkal Maharaj’s real name was Vashisht Narayan Karvariya, but in the world of crime, people knew him only by the name Bhukkal Maharaj and were afraid of this name. When Bhukkal’s gangsterism was at its peak, he also tried to enter politics. He also contested elections as an independent candidate from Allahabad (North) and Allahabad (South) thrice, but he lost all three times.
Son Udaybhan fulfilled his dream
After Bhukkal Maharaj’s murder, his son Uday Bhan Karvariya fulfilled his dream by winning the Bara assembly seat on a BJP ticket in 2002. Atiq Ahmed, the son of a horse carriage driver, had joined Bhukkal Maharaj since his teenage years. Atiq’s entry into Bhukkal’s gang was dramatic. Actually, once Atiq saw Bhukkal Maharaj’s convoy. At that time, he was so impressed by Bhukkal Maharaj that he reached his hideout the next day. There Bhukkal saw Atiq Ahmed’s passion and made him his special disciple. After this, he gave Atiq complete training to flourish in the world of crime.
The fight between Guru and disciple started because of politics
After staying with Bhukkal for a few days, people of Allahabad started knowing Atiq. Taking advantage of this, Atiq Ahmed made his mark in politics and contested the election from Allahabad North Assembly seat. At that time, Bhukkal Maharaj first asked him not to contest the election, but when Atiq did not listen to him, Bhukkal Maharaj also filed his nomination. In this election, Atiq Ahmed won the election. With this, his war with his own guru Bhukkal Maharaj started.
Son left engineering and became a criminal
After separating from Guru, Atiq formed his own gang and after gaining power, he publicly murdered Bhukkal Maharaj. This led to his control over extortion, extortion, illegal business of sand and real estate in Allahabad. Meanwhile, when Bhukkal Maharaj was murdered, his younger son Udaybhan Karvariya had completed his engineering studies. Now he was thinking of going to Delhi for a job when he got the news of his father’s murder. He immediately gave up the idea of working and started preparing to take revenge from Atiq at any cost.
Like his father, Udaybhan also started extortion
Since the entire gang was scattered after Bhukkal’s murder, Udaybhan organised his father’s scattered gang with great difficulty. After this, he started expanding his business from his father’s own business. At that time, his first challenge came from SP MLA Jawahar Yadav from Jhunsi. After becoming MLA, Jawahar Yadav was rapidly trying to expand his business in the field of real estate and sand mining along with extortion and ransom. In such a situation, Udaybhan Karvariya started getting defeated on every front. At that time, Udaybhan faced two challenges simultaneously. The first challenge was Atiq Ahmed, the second was Jawahar Yadav.
Jhunsi MLA was murdered in the middle of the crossroads
Since Jawahar was less powerful than Atiq, Udaybhan Karvariya killed Jawahar Yadav by firing indiscriminately with AK-47 in public at Civil Lines crossing. By carrying out this incident, he killed two birds with one stone. Firstly, he killed one of his rivals. Along with this, he aimed his second target at Atiq Ahmed as a message. This incident sent a message to Atiq Ahmed that now no one can stop Udaybhan Karvariya. Both the targets of Udaybhan Karvariya were accurate, but his luck did not favour him and he had to be arrested and sent to jail in this case.
He himself became an MLA and got his wife made MLA too
Later, after coming out on bail, Udaybhan Karvariya joined BJP and became MLA from Bara seat on BJP ticket. Later, he also made his wife Neelam Karvariya contest election on BJP ticket from Meja seat and became MLA. He also tried a lot to get the case registered against him quashed, despite this, he was sentenced to life imprisonment in the year 2019. However, after serving 8 years 3 months and 22 days of sentence, now with the grace of Uttar Pradesh government, he has been pardoned from the remaining sentence.
