India Archery Paris Olympics 2024: India’s women’s archery team has performed well in the ranking round of the Paris Olympics. Deepika Kumari, Ankita Bhagat and Bhajan Kaur have given India a total of 1,983 points. With this, the Indian team finished fourth and has confirmed its place in the quarterfinals. Talking about individual scores, Ankita Bhagat performed the best for India, who scored a total of 666 points by hitting 72 shots and finished 11th. On the other hand, Deepika Kumari and Bhajan Kaur also remained out of the top-20.

If we look at the individual performance of Indian athletes, Ankita finished 11th, Bhajan Kaur 22nd and Deepika Kumari 23rd. Ankita made a great comeback in the last 2 sets of the second half, in which she scored 112 out of 120 points. At the same time, a very poor performance was seen especially from 18-year-old Bhajan Kaur in the last moments, who scored a total of 659 points. Deepika was one point behind her and finished the ranking round with 658 points.

India entered the quarterfinals

Talking about the rules, the teams in the top-4 in the team list will get direct entry into the quarter-finals in the team event. Since India finished fourth with 1983 points, it has entered the quarter-finals directly. India will now face the winner of the France vs Netherlands match in the quarter-finals. On the other hand, the teams ranked 5th to 12th in the team rankings will first have to go through the Round of 16.

The purpose of the ranking round was to prepare a bracket of 128 athletes in archery. Now these 128 athletes will compete individually against each other in singles events based on their ranking. First the Round of 64, then the Round of 32 and then the pre-quarterfinals and semi-finals will be the first step for the athletes to reach the final.
