Greater Noida West: About 1500 people fell ill after drinking contaminated water in Supertech Eco Village-2 Society. After this incident, there was a stir in the area. The local administration took immediate action and imposed a fine of Rs 5 crore 7 lakh on the builder. This incident has raised serious questions about the safety and hygiene of thousands of families living in the society.
1500 people fell ill
The residents of the society had complained of foul smell and strange taste in drinking water for the last few days. Many residents started having problems like stomach ache, vomiting, diarrhea and fever. When the matter became serious and about 1500 people of the society fell ill. The team of local administration and health department reached the spot and took water samples and started investigation.
The investigation revealed
that the water being supplied in the society was contaminated. Due to which people’s health deteriorated. Many people had to be admitted to the hospital and some were given first aid at home. After this incident, there is deep anger among the residents towards the builder and society management.
Big action on builder
On the basis of the investigation report, Greater Noida Authority took major action on Supertech Builder and imposed a fine of Rs 5 crore 7 lakh. Authority officials said that this fine has been imposed for ignoring the safety of the residents living in the society and supplying contaminated water. Officials also said that strict steps will be taken to prevent such incidents in future and water will be tested regularly in all societies.
The problem has arisen many times before.
After this incident, there is a lot of anger among the residents of the society. Many people have also talked about taking legal action against the builder and the management. Residents say that this is not the first time they have faced such a problem. Complaints were made earlier also regarding the quality of water, but they were not taken seriously.
